Artwork in Shirts Wednesday, February 23rd 2005 by Marco Parigi

The two shirts here show how much better it is to knit designs into the fabric than to screen print. These shirts are cotton rich, can achieve more earthy tones and use less chemicals than print alternatives.

Shirt of the month Tuesday, February 8th 2005 by Marco Parigi

First National had a visual design of a shirt in mind. From a picture we came up with the shirts, and the results were very good. I can't emphasise enough the importance of colour choice for a design to work. Rather than get a "cheap" design off a catalogue that you might see the business down the road use - go for a style/colour of your own choosing!

New William Ross Uniforms Monday, March 17th 2003 by Marco Parigi

William Ross High School uniforms are being manufactured presently and are available from the locations listed below. Cueldee is manufacturing these uniforms in poly-cotton jersey - a fabric which is both lighter and stronger than the current pique fabric. The lack of seams in the front of the shirt also help durability. Orders and pickups can be arranged by phoning : 4779 3833.

Please note, we do no longer have a permanent retail outlet in the mall - we will continue to supply Easifit Uniforms (Ingham Road)ph: 4771 6721 , and also Sportscene warehouse (Woolcock Street)ph:4779 1422 as alternative retail spots.

Free Upgrade to high tech fabric now available! Sunday, February 16th 2003 by Marco Parigi

If you have had products from us before, get your purchasing officer to ask about this great offer. Basically if you've been getting polo's, t-shirts, or other garments in p/c pique, birdseye, or one of the other knit fabrics, we can offer you the exact pattern shirt in our custom knits in one of three textures (Double pique, lightweight pique, or lightweight jersey knit) To see the colour range and textures see our colour chart on our web site under custom knits. The pictures attached are in jade (green) double pique, and purple lightweight jersey.

For example, if you've been getting polos in a birdseye fabric, say our light blue marle fabric, you can buy your next order in our custom knit white/navy birdseye, a softer but more durable fabric. The price we offer will be the same as for the alternative fabric in the same quantities. The minimum quantity you need to order will also be the same.

The softer fabrics that we knit have a number of distinct advantages such as being less irritating for sensitive skin and cooler to wear, while still having excellent sun protection and long wear.

To find out more specifically what custom knit alternatives are available for your situation please ask our representatives here (Shelley or Glenda) or send in a query from our web site.

High-tech fabric in new School Shirts Sunday, February 2nd 2003 by Marco Parigi

After laboratory tests showed that our own Cueldee inhouse knit fabrics to have:
1) Higher tear strength (both along length and across width)

2) Higher Puncture strength.

3) Higher resistance to abrasion.

In comparison to the birdseye fabrics which we were using to make Pimlico H.S. shirts; We have switched to Cueldee's own fabrics exclusively for this school, and others which use similar texture of fabric.

Pimlico State High School, Townsville SHS, Wulguru SPS and William Ross SHS are all using Cueldee's inhouse knitted fabrics now. You will notice that these shirts will feel lighter and softer than other uniforms.

We welcome any feedback if you would like to fill out our feedback form, and attention it to Marco.

school uniform washing tips Monday, January 27th 2003 by Marco Parigi

General tips: For longer lasting school shirts, these are all preferable where possible.
1) Cold machine wash. Cold wash is always preferable and safer than hot wash. If there is anything in the wash with colour run, hot water will set it onto any light coloured areas of your school uniform. Even if some colour runs in cold water, further separate cold washing usually gets it out.

2) Avoid using any kind of bleach where possible. Chlorine Bleaches (eg. "Sno-white" ) will fade almost any kinds of fabrics and colours, and will considerably change embroidery & collar colours. Oxygen bleachers (eg. "NappySan", Stop-run etc.) will fade some colours, especially embroidery and collar colours. Overuse of fabric powders (which also have oxygen bleaches in them) may also fade or blotch some fabrics especially if clothes are hung in direct sunlight as well (ultraviolet light can activate the bleach). Liquid machine detergent is the best to prevent fading because they don't include whiteners in their ingredients.

3) Avoid hanging in direct sunlight. This will fade most types of fabric, and as mentioned above can activate bleaches as well.

4) Use "Cold Soak" method if colours run. Schools with red and white panels (eg. Cranbrook, Annandale State schools) are sometimes prone to some running when inadvertently wet (some of the white becoming pink). The surest way for the excess dye to be removed is to soak the shirt in plenty of cold water (*nothing else*) overnight before putting it in a cold wash. The excess unset dye will slowly pass into the water and can then be easily washed away.

Stain removal is a difficult issue because methods that are effective in removing stains are also effective at fading colours. As always, stopping stains from setting by wetting or soaking as early as possible and trying safer ways before using stronger bleaches (which may cause streaking worse than the original stain) or hotter water (which can also cause some stains to set)if there is no alternative.

Also if you are considering a new washing machine, front loaders tend to have a gentler, but still effective cleaning and spinning action.
Dryers are effective because they dry shirts quickly, giving less time for colour to run, but can add to wear and tear with the combination of heat and tumbling action. Drip drying in shade is slightly better and can also reduce ironing time.
